At Fasse bldgs. we don't just build houses, we strive to create homes (or Fasse bldgs. ;) that reflect the personality, lifestyle, priorities, and style of the homeowner. Everyone has different tastes, needs, and visions and it is important to consider and capture these things so that your dwelling is a place you will celebrate for years to come. This article, on Apartmenttherapy.com offers a few tips for creating living spaces you will love for a long time. One of my favorite tips discusses how you fill your home...

We can’t stress it enough — fill your home with things you love. The souvenirs you pick up on travels. Photos of loved ones. Local art found at a market. Don’t cave to convention or bend to trends — go for stuff that sticks out to you. That calls to you. That has a story. When you’ve got a home full of meaningful items (versus cheap items you picked up to “fill up” your space as quickly as possible), it’ll always be a home you love.

Since many of us are so visual, we have found that conceptual design boards help keep us on the right track with our home visions. Instead of filling your home for the sake of filling it, you can gradually collect beautiful, meaningful items that are also in line with your overall vision. Many times, a finished empty building, doesn't do the trick!. We like to imagine lived-in, furnished space, and we often feel the need to 'fill up' empty spaces just because there is empty space. In line with our "less really is more credo" at Fasse bldgs, we like to urge people to stick to your overall vision, take your time (I know its hard!), enjoy the process, and fill your home with things you truly love, and will love for years to come.

I have recently been working on an 'Organic White' vision board, which is at the bottom of this post. My obsession with all things white started a very long time ago, and then was procured after a stay at The Cove, in Eleuthera, Bahamas a couple years back. The Cove is seriously the most magical white wonderland (minus the snow, add a beautiful white beach) of a place I have ever seen. Beauty and tranquility at its finest....

That was one of the most beautiful, relaxing vacations I can recall. The white neutral spaces created a calm I have never been unable to achieve in my own home. As hard as I try, I always end up adding splashes of color, or a funky accent, a refurbished piece from the flea market, or a bold piece of modern furniture. My love for the mid-century era and well-loved vintage pieces with stories to tell, always get the best of me. There is so much peace and harmony in white neutral spaces. I adore helping other people achieve this look. Keeping things white and natural turns a living space into a sanctuary, where you feel calm and happy to be home...
